Composers: Michael Edwards & Christian Tschuggnall
The tempo for the whole piece came from the big station clock. The challenge of the piece was to get all different kinds of screeching-sounds for the different perspectives
of the trains. We achieved this through different combinations of tutti playing, using extended techniques – scraping, overblowing and lots of ear piercing piccolo flute ????
Another two fun facts: The ticket validator is a high ‚a“, played by the piccolo, and the Berlin-signature train door closing melody is in Gb major played by a woodwind section. We had to get the players to play quite out of tune to get that scene right.
